Reasons to Prep

There are many ideas and theories out there on why we should prep for survival. Honestly some are far fetched ideas that give ‘preppers‘ in general a bad name. However, there are many good reasons to prepare for a chaotic situation. Below are some of the possibilities that I would subscribe to as possible.

Hacked Electrical Grid – At any moment a hacker could tap into our electrical grid and shut it down. Depending on what they’ve done, it be hours or days or even weeks before it could be sorted out to where they get electric back to the people. In a situation like that, you wouldn’t have any heads up or warning signs. One moment it’s on, the next it isn’t. Seems to me that this is a real potential threat based on everything I’ve read about it, even our government points out this is a real threat. Getting prepared for an event like this makes sense to me. It’s not some sort of a “foiled hat” theory, so if I were you, I’d get prepared for it. Even if you think our power grid is too well protected to get hacked into, the sun could do the same thing by way of an EMP.

Dollar Crash – It doesn’t take a genius to see that if we continue down the path were on, the dollar has to collapse. Many say we’re already past the point of no return, meaning it’s only a matter of when – not if… The IMF has long been planning on the dollar crashing, and eventually, all fiat money collapses. Fiat money, for those who don’t know, is any currency that’s declared legal tender but isn’t backed by anything, like a commodity or anything with intrinsic value.¬† Something as simple as a push to get off the dollar for oil pricing could start the collapse. People realizing the Fed has been pumping 85 Billion dollars a month into the economy should be enough to get people to realize there’s nothing to money… It’s been printed on a massive scale and continues to be for several years now and no end in sight. Moreover, at nearly 20 trillion in debt and another 100-200 trillion in promises, we simply can’t continue this insanity. To put that sort of debt into perspective, all the privately held land in the U.S. is said to be worth roughly 15 trillion dollars…

Terrorism – Perhaps it could be a dirty bomb or some other awful and horrific terrorist attack that leads this country into chaos. A muslim & muslim sympathizers¬† vs rest of world war could take place. They (muslims) believe this sort of thing would be a good thing. Something like a horrific terror attack could push us into¬† Martial Law. Martial Law in a nutshell turns power over to the military to control and subdue the civilians. There is no Bill of Rights or Constitution under Martial Law, you lose those rights! Don’t think so? Think back to Katrina… One of the first orders were to confiscate guns from legally registered owners. This was under a so called “pro gun rights” republican president. That meant, at a time legal gun owners potentially needed their guns the most, the government took them away. At the same time, they gave the bad guys, the guys who didn’t register their guns, the green light that no one was armed, no one was protected… The first person the government usually goes after in these sort of events are people who generally willfully follow orders. They are law abiding people, and unfortunately, these law abiding citizens handed over their guns without demanding an answer as to why they were first targeted like criminals. People days after the storm passed due to not having water. Something so simple and basic – water – was the reason some people died. This is a glaring example as to why we should get prepared. Something as little as a few bottles of water could save your life, but if I were you, I’d prepare for an even bigger event than katrina.

Asteroid – I’m no comet or space expert, but based on several articles, I think this is a possibility. Depending on how big and where it impacts, it could have a devastating impact on your way of life. Power outages, down communications, and so on, is just the tip of the iceberg on what an event like this could have on you. If it were to hit water and you were nearby, there would almost certainly be a tsunami… Dust and debris would litter the air for days, weeks or potentially years… In such an event you may need to leave the area. If you were far enough away from impact, you may need to hunker down, and with no electricity, you wouldn’t be able to go shopping at the grocery store or even get gasoline for car…

Well that sums of what I think are possible events that would put us in a bad situation. In any of the above events, or an event I haven’t even thought of yet, you would be far better off if you were prepared for a chaotic scenario. Simply being prepared with food, water, and some basic survival gear, increases your chances of survival vs those who will depend entirely on the government. People depended on the government during katrina. They blindly followed the orders to go into the superdome and wait. Some then died in the superdome waiting for the government to give them water… It seems to me like there’s 2 types of people. Those who don’t mind putting their lives in the hands of people who don’t know them and certainly don’t love them, and those who will prepare and look after the people they love. These people won’t depend on strangers to save them, they’ll depend on themselves. I’m hoping you’re the latter! If not, I’m hoping you’ll become the latter after reading this…
